Laura LeHew
Sanctity
There at the lobby bar I met a demolished man
or rather he was a phoenix having already burst
into flames
into inevitable charcoal
There at the bar where no-one knew him
his heart consumed by a rainbow of sorrow
with a lock
and a thrown-away key
There he suffered
dusk into silver
anguish into light
a drudgery of resurrection
There phosphoresce pumped
torturous through every molecule
feather and bone
each beat so damned slow
There at the bar he was beginning
a mote
a speck
he was anything
