Ben Rasnic

The Crow

The crow struts
through the garden
with its stick figure feet
and cartoon toes,
angles across furrowed rows
of tomatoes and beans,
head bobbing
like foam rubber dice
from a rear view visor;

flexes its black puppet
wings and fluffs its
feathers, spreads
a banana shaped beak
wide open

appearing
almost to smile;

poses
for a pack
of playing cards.
